First lesson: Speaking

A2 (Pre-Intermediate) Teens Speaking

This activity includes a speaking activity designed for a first lesson with new students. The purpose of the activity is to test the students' speaking abilities and to help the teacher learn more about them.

The activity is divided into three tasks:

Task 1: Answer the questions. This task consists of a series of personal questions, such as "Where are you from?", "How old are you?", "What hobbies do you have?", "What is your favorite color?", "What is your favorite food?", "What do you like to do in your free time?", "What is your favorite film or TV show?", and "Why are you learning English?".

Task 2: Choose a picture and explain your choice. This task involves showing the student several pictures and asking them to choose one and explain why they chose it. One of the images is of various food items arranged in the shape of a heart.

Task 3: Read the statements and say if you agree with them. Explain your answer. This task presents the student with a series of statements, and the student must state whether they agree or disagree with each statement and provide an explanation for their answer. Some of the statements include: "It’s better to live in a small village than in a big city," "You don’t need a lot of money to be happy," "Eating fast food is better than eating vegetables," "Spring is the best season of the year," "Everyone should learn to cook before they turn 16," "It’s better to live without a phone or the internet," and "Robots will take over the world in the future".

The activity includes images to accompany the tasks, such as a picture of two people talking and the heart-shaped food image.
