General Information:

  • This lesson is designed to teach vocabulary related to different jobs and professions.

  • It helps students identify different jobs, understand what people in those jobs do, and use job-related words in sentences and discussions.

  • The lesson also encourages students to think about their own future job aspirations and consider different career paths. 

    Overview:

The lesson is structured with a progression of tasks, moving from vocabulary introduction to application and creative use:

  1. Lead-in: The lesson begins with an introductory activity involving questions, likely to activate prior knowledge and engage students in the topic. 

  2. Vocabulary Presentation: New job-related words are presented, often with visual aids (as seen in the images), to help students learn and remember them. 

  3. Guess the Words: Students participate in a word-guessing activity to reinforce their understanding of the vocabulary. 

  4. Look at the Objects. What Professions Do They Refer To? Students identify professions based on associated objects. 

  5. Complete the Gaps With the Correct Words: Students fill in missing words in sentences related to jobs. 

  6. Extra Task: The lesson includes additional tasks for further practice or extension. 

  7. Reading: Vocabulary Presentation: Vocabulary is presented within a reading context. 

  8. Match the Halves of the Sentences: Students match sentence fragments to create complete sentences about jobs. 

  9. Complete the Gaps With the Words: Similar to task 5, students fill in missing words. 

  10. Extra Task 1 & 2: More additional practice activities are provided. 

  11. Describe the Pictures: Students describe images related to different jobs. 

  12. Complete the Questions With the Correct Words and Answer: Students complete and answer questions about jobs. 

  13. Extra Activity: Imagine You Are....: A creative activity where students imagine themselves in a specific profession. 

Students Will Learn:

  • Students will learn the names of various jobs and professions in English. 

  • They will understand the roles and responsibilities associated with different occupations. 

  • Students will expand their vocabulary related to the workplace and job descriptions.
